Är Sverige registrerat som företag? Nej enligt SEC.gov och Riksgälden svarar inte

Det cirkulerar ett rykte om att Sverige är registrerat som företag. Vi började kolla upp det. US Securities and Exchange Commission svarade efter 5 dagar. Riksgälden i Sverige som ska vara rätt instans att besvara frågan har inte svarat trots att de fick frågan den 21 februari 2013 från NewsVoice.

SIC stands for Standard Industrial Classification, and 8888 is the classification for filings by foreign (Non-US) governments. There is more information here:

Again, it is not registered as a company but as an issuer of securities. US securities laws require securities sold here to be registered with the SEC unless they qualify for an exemption from registration.
