Det cirkulerar ett rykte om att Sverige är registrerat som företag. Vi började kolla upp det. US Securities and Exchange Commission svarade efter 5 dagar. Riksgälden i Sverige som ska vara rätt instans att besvara frågan har inte svarat trots att de fick frågan den 21 februari 2013 från NewsVoice.
Så här svarade U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ämne: Your queryHello,
Your questions were forwarded on to the SEC’s press office — we handle queries from the press, so in the future, if you have questions, best to email or call us directly. ON BACKGROUND, not for attribution to me, here are answers to your questions:
On the page below the Swedish Kingdom is listed as a company. The text says: ”SWEDEN KINGDOM OF CIK.”
http://www.sec.gov/cgi-bin/browse-edgar?company=Sweden&match…
Questions
1. What is CIK?
CIK stands for Central Index Key and it is used to identify SEC filers, there is more information here:
http://www.sec.gov/edgar/searchedgar/cik.htm
2. What is SIC 8888?
SIC stands for Standard Industrial Classification, and 8888 is the classification for filings by foreign (Non-US) governments. There is more information here:
http://www.sec.gov/info/edgar/siccodes.htm
3. Why is Sweden listed as a company?
It is not listed as a company but as an issuer of securities in the US — for instance, bonds. Details are here:
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/225913/000104746903023567/a2112370z18-k.htm
And the most recent information filed by the Kingdom of Sweden to the SEC is here:
http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/225913/000110465912065836/a12-21943_118k.htm
4. What does it mean that Sweden is registered as a company? What does it entail?
Again, it is not registered as a company but as an issuer of securities. US securities laws require securities sold here to be registered with the SEC unless they qualify for an exemption from registration. Registrants have obligations to provide information to the SEC and investors, which is filed electronically and available through Edgar on the SEC’s website. There is more information here: http://www.sec.gov/divisions/corpfin/cfabout.shtml
I hope this is helpful to you. Securities law experts in Sweden or your Swedish securities regulator also may be a good resource for you.
