James O’Keefe, founder of the conservative activist group Project Veritas, is reportedly negotiating to reclaim Project Veritas following revelations of undisclosed financial conflicts among board members who previously ousted him.
In February 2023, O’Keefe was removed from his leadership role at Project Veritas amid allegations of financial mismanagement and concerns over his leadership style. The board cited excessive spending on personal luxuries, including charter flights and car services.
However, recent federal testimony has brought new information to light. Board member George Skakel admitted under oath in November 2024 that he had investments in several private companies, including Petrogen, CathAid, Black Buffalo, and Forever Labs, during his tenure on the Project Veritas board.

Fellow board member Matthew Tyrmand was involved in fundraising for these companies. Skakel acknowledged that Petrogen could be sold to a pharmaceutical company like Pfizer.

These undisclosed investments violate Project Veritas’ Conflicts of Interest Policy, which Skakel and Tyrmand signed. Skakel conceded that he did not disclose these financial ties to O’Keefe, stating,
”I didn’t go out of my way. I didn’t feel it was my obligation to disclose. It was a private business transaction between two individuals.”
In response to these developments, O’Keefe confronted Skakel in April 2025. Skakel contradicted his earlier testimony by denying he was an investor in the companies while serving on the board.
Amid these revelations, O’Keefe has launched a docuseries titled The Truth Inside Veritas, aiming to expose Project Veritas’s internal conflicts and alleged corruption. The series delves into the circumstances surrounding his removal and the board members’ undisclosed financial interests.
O’Keefe’s efforts to reclaim leadership of Project Veritas are ongoing. He seeks to address the alleged breaches of trust and restore the organisation’s original mission.
