Douglas A. Macgregor (1947-) is a retired U.S. Army colonel and government official, and an author, consultant, and television commentator. He led an early tank battle in the Gulf War. His 1997 book Breaking the Phalanx argued for radical reforms inside the Army. His thinking contributed to the US strategy in its 2003 invasion of Iraq. In 2020, President Donald Trump proposed Macgregor as ambassador to Germany.
