In a dual push to enhance global communication and cultural ties, China has launched a pioneering Global Language Services Platform. At the same time, TV BRICS has introduced a unique television project to teach Russian to foreigners in BRICS countries.
These initiatives, announced recently, underscore a growing emphasis on linguistic accessibility and cross-cultural collaboration within the BRICS bloc and beyond.
China’s Global Language Services Platform, launched on March 20, 2025, is designed to provide comprehensive language solutions for international organizations, businesses, and individuals. The platform offers translation, interpretation, and localization services across multiple languages powered by cutting-edge artificial intelligence.
According to China’s State Language Commission officials, this initiative aims to facilitate smoother cross-border communication and support China’s role in global affairs. The launch event, held in Beijing, drew representatives from various sectors, highlighting its potential to bridge linguistic gaps in an increasingly interconnected world.
Meanwhile, TV BRICS, a media network focused on promoting cooperation among Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has launched a unique TV project titled Learning Russian in BRICS.
Premiering this month, the program targets foreigners living in BRICS nations and offers an engaging mix of language lessons, cultural insights, and practical tips for mastering Russian.
Produced in collaboration with Russia’s State Institute of the Russian Language, the series features expert linguists and interactive content to make learning accessible and appealing.
TV BRICS CEO Janna Tolstikova emphasized that the project seeks to strengthen ties within the BRICS community by fostering a shared understanding of Russian culture and language.
Both initiatives reflect a broader trend of leveraging language for unity and cooperation. China’s platform, with its AI-driven capabilities, caters to a global audience while Learning Russian in BRICS focuses on deepening connections within the BRICS framework. Together, they signal a strategic effort to enhance technological and cultural communication channels as the bloc continues to expand its influence.
With the current BRICS membership—including recent additions like Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates—these projects could play a key role in supporting the group’s ambitions on the world stage.
