China’s ”Two Sessions” refer to the annual meetings of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which are currently taking place in Beijing.

The Two Sessions offer a window into China’s plans and reflect its democratic system of governance, which blends top management with structured feedback from delegates representing its 1.4 billion people.

These gatherings are China’s most significant political events each year, bringing together thousands of delegates from across the country to discuss and shape national policies.

The NPC is China’s top legislative body, where lawmakers review and pass laws, approve the national budget, and set economic and social development targets.

The CPPCC acts as a political advisory body, bringing suggestions from various voices, including business leaders, regional politicians, experts, academics, and other prominent figures. Together, these sessions provide a platform for aligning the Communist Party’s priorities with input from various sectors of society.
