Thousands of people are feared dead in a powerful Myanmar Earthquake on Friday. Construction workers in Bangkok are trapped under the rubble after a skyscraper collapsed.
The skyscraper collapsed in the Chatuchak area of Bangkok, and those near the building were seen running from the scene. Houses in Bangkok were evacuated following the earthquake, which struck at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
The quake’s centre was in central Myanmar, 10 kilometers deep near Mandalay. USGS reports that 12 minutes after the first quake, an aftershock with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred.
There are videos of collapsed buildings and damaged roads in Myanmar. Large chunks of roof fell from buildings. Many people have been injured, according to Myanmar’s authorities.
Videos on X show high-rise buildings swaying in central parts of Bangkok. Swimming pools on hotel roofs have overflowed.
