A slightly faster, not-so-well-known version of Elton John’s and Dua Lipa’s original mix, Cold Heart, with another beat sound from the COVID year of 2021.
The 2021 mix ”Cold Heart (PNAU Remix)” by Elton John and Dua Lipa emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic when John, unable to tour, focused on collaborations for his album The Lockdown Sessions.
The song, released on August 13, 2021, as the album’s lead single, blends four of John’s classics—”Rocket Man” (1972), ”Sacrifice” (1989), ”Kiss the Bride” (1983), and ”Where’s the Shoorah?” (1976)—remixed by Australian trio PNAU.
John and Lipa’s friendship began in November 2020 via Lipa’s Studio 2054 live stream and deepened through her performance at John’s AIDS Foundation event in 2021.
Recorded remotely over 18 months using Zoom, the track reflects their mutual admiration, with Lipa calling it an ”absolute honour” and John praising her energy.
Cold Heart became a global hit, reaching #1 in the UK and charting on the Billboard Hot 100, marking John’s first top 40 hit since 1999.
