The US regularly threatens to crush Iran. Israel wants the US to bomb Iran immediately after the US midterm elections, perhaps with nuclear weapons, at any moment. The nation’s leaders and people are under severe strain, but they have also united people from different groups within Iran, while people in other countries feel sympathy for Iran.
Iran has already been seriously damaged by the unprovoked attacks of the US-Israel alliance since February 2026. Missiles have targeted schools and universities. Iran has responded by destroying all US bases in its immediate vicinity, as well as infrastructure in those countries supporting the alliance’s attacks, yet the war is still not symmetrical.
Iran has not bombed the US mainland, the world’s greatest military power. Iran has no military bases encircling the US. Iran does not interfere with American shipping off the US coast. Iran has no interest in renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Persian Gulf, just as the US designates the same sea region the Gulf of America, not to mention the Strait of Hormuz, which Trump wants to rename the Trump Strait.
What business does the US actually have in the Middle East at all? The US is not in the Middle East. The US is in North America. More and more people in the West are becoming aware of US imperialism around the world. People are realizing that the US is not a role model for the West or for democracy. The US does not represent freedom and humanism, neither in the West nor in the East.
It is clear to anyone familiar with history that the nations which the US labels as dictatorships and rogue states are those that offer the greatest resistance to imperialist powers such as the US, France, and the UK. Gaddafi in the former Libya is a good example of a resistance fighter against imperialism.
The nation that the US (and Israel) are now trying to bomb to smithereens is simply the state whose turn has come, but Iran has shown enormous resilience. Trump and Netanyahu are furious. It is not possible to take control of Iran as easily as it was to conquer Gaza or Venezuela.
That is why the US and Israel are now brandishing their nuclear weapons as a final solution to force Iran into submission. Iran’s leadership and people are now under enormous psychological strain, but amidst this darkness there is hope.
Alon Mizrahi, who describes himself as an Israeli anti-Zionist Arab Jew, writes on X:

”Just think about the immense psychological pressure Iranian leaders have to deal with, tasked with running a country when an international coalition of psychos work day and night to harm and destroy them, and malign their country, and impoverish it, with the risk of an all-out war always present.
A collective of shameless thieves and colonizers who steal and sabotage, assassinate and coerce, conspire and spy endlessly, relentlessly, 24/7/365.
Iran has been living like this for almost 50 years: sanctions, wars, deceit, theft, meddling, – and look what an amazing country they built and maintain. It is truly astonishing.
Without their pure faith and dedication, they would never have done it; this is superhuman territory.
The way I envision it, after this war Iran will become a global attraction: a top destination for lovers of art and beauty, philosophy and leadership. The spiritual capital of the post-colonial world.
No one will erase Iran. No one can. Khamenei promised that many years ago. Since then, it has gotten 10 times stronger, and humanity loves them.
We need a ray of light to scatter this horrific darkness, and resistance is it.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says that Iran is “better prepared than ever”. During a press conference, Araghchi stated the following:

”We are prepared for any scenario. In fact, we are more prepared than ever. We have modernized our weapons, addressed their weaknesses, and added new strengths. New weapons have also been tested. Our armed forces are more prepared than ever to fight a war and more prepared than ever to defend the country. I am certain that if war breaks out, the Americans will achieve none of their objectives, just as in previous wars. Another defeat will be added to their previous defeats.”
I think many people in the West who read this article will experience cognitive dissonance. They cannot decide whether to admire Iran’s resilience in the face of life-threatening leaders in the US and Israel, or whether to slip back into the West’s propaganda portrayal of Iran as a dictatorship with a united people whose main desire is to overthrow the religious establishment – even though this simplistic description would be more at home in a comic book about good versus evil.
It is possible to free oneself from this cognitive dissonance by realizing that the people of Iran have never been more united, with Iranians, regardless of faith, coming together in solidarity and in a united defense against two nuclear powers.
Faith in something greater than war is growing stronger. Now, surely, many more are turning to a higher power. Ultimately, religious and non-religious people alike want the same things: peace between nations, peace of mind and freedom from suffering.
