The leader of the Christian Democrats, Ebba Busch, has attracted attention in Sweden with a social media post calling for Islam to adapt to Swedish and European values. Busch is the Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden, and she wants to cooperate with peaceful Muslims in the country to succeed.

Ebba Busch says, quote:

”Islam must adapt. Too many people practice Islam in Sweden and Europe, as they do in totalitarian states. This must stop. Islam must adapt to our fundamental common values, which make Sweden Sweden and Europe Europe. It is precisely these values that enable us to live in tolerance, peace, and freedom with each other. Some values are not optional.”

Busch wrote the following in September 2022, commenting on a related problem in Sweden, gang violence:

”Gangs have taken control of neighborhoods and set up roadblocks. It is a level of gang crime never before seen in Sweden. Senseless violence is allowed to spread a paralyzing fear in society. Schoolchildren are being robbed. Girls and boys are raped. Children are kidnapped, tortured, and humiliated.”

In 2018, the Swedish Defence University wrote a report on Islamic Salafism in Sweden on behalf of the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. The number of radical jihadists in Sweden has increased tenfold in 2018.

The report states:

”There is a spectrum of different shades between Salafism and Salafi-jihadism. Salafism has, in some cases, proven to be a breeding ground for violent jihadism.”

”The Swedish Security Service has described a tenfold increase in violent Islamist communities in Sweden in less than a decade. This increase reflects the emerging radical groups and environments…”

”The research review shows that Salafism shares the same foundations but differs in the application of the faith (manhaj). Basically, there is an anti-democratic attitude because following God and God’s laws is the only permissible thing.”

”Foreign government reports and research also show that Salafist activities can contribute to the opposition of democracy, the active promotion of intolerance, discrimination, and hate speech against other groups (especially against Jews and Shiites) and the promotion of isolationist tendencies…”

Editors comment: Now, Sweden may face a 20-year-long fight against Islamic extremism in Sweden.
